Haiti Discovered
The country of Haiti was discovered in 1492 by Christopher Columbus and
his men from Spain.
While Christopher Columbus may have made his voyage in search for spices
in the new world for the kingdom of Spain, he accidentally made the greatest
discovery in world history.
At the time Haiti was discovered, the land was inhabited by the Arawaks (or
Indians) who were leaving in the land, peacefully.
Haiti (Hispaniola) Discovered in 1492
As peaceful it may have been for the Indians at the time Christopher
Columbus discovered their marvelous land, like Christopher
mentioned, little did they know of what’s to come of their discovery.
Soon after Christopher Columbus name the land Hispaniola which
later divided into: Republic of Haiti in the West and the Dominican
Republic situated in the East.
